A comprehensive facility master plan was prepared to determine a new organizational strategy for this school, which had been converted to a middle school by the Pittsburgh Public Schools, but had been renovated to adequately support its new program requirements. To reduce the overall scale of the facility, it is separated into two distinct "houses," with centrally located common program areas relocated and resized to meet current functional needs. The r enovation of the school incorporates improvements necessary to meet long-term needs relative to the quality of educational facilities in classrooms, laboratories, and resource areas, as well as satisfying needs relative to life-safety requirements, environmental control systems, security, and operational needs. |
