This project comprised a major renovation and addition to an existing one story 1950's ranch dwelling, transforming it into a Craftsman-style bungalow. Vertical and horizontal extensions were constructed, including a new upper floor with three bedrooms, and a lower level family room addition, along with a complete renovation of the existing first floor. The principal design intent was to consolidate all existing and new spaces under a large, simple roof form, maintaining a low scale and intimate relationship with site. Interior spaces are open and flowing, but retain a clear definition of various program spaces through delineation of wood trim and beam work. The house is ordered by views and solar orientation. Views through the interior are composed as carefully as the views to the exterior landscape.
