"House for Competition Ball Room Dancer and Fly Fisherman." The project consisted of comprehensive renovations and additions to an existing residence to addresses the clients' specific space needs and to resolve significant building and environmental performance deficiencies. The design of the renovations and additions strictly adhere to the organizational module of the original design. The proportions of the new design features reinforce the existing sculptural composition of the residence and enhance the flow of space. In addition, enhanced quality of light and improved air circulation are also critical factors of the design. Design features of the residence include a granite reflecting pool with integral lantern at the entrance court, window shading armatures, new stainless steel clad additions, and stainless steel clad walls and chimney to address roofing and siding water damage. A small building housing an exercise pool was also designed (but not constructed), with the building's changing room doubling as a tearoom. Apertures into the tearoom from the pool area capture reflected light from the water's surface. |
